The distillery's new edition will be permanently available

The collaboration between Glenmorangie and Harrison Ford has provided the whisky community with many entertaining video adverts. In the short series "Once Upon a Time in Scotland", the US actor known not least as Indiana Jones is on a very personal journey of discovery through Scotland and the Glenmorangie Distillery. During filming, he was served something very special: The Glenmorangie The Altus 25 Years Old.

The whisky has now been officially released and can already be found here in the Whisky.de online shop. According to the latest press release from Moet Hennessy Germany, The Altus 25 Years Old will be permanently available.

High stills, special casks

The Latin word "altus" means "high", and the name of the new bottling alludes to the exceptionally high stills at the Glenmorangie Distillery. The Glenmorangie Single Malt Whisky owes its fine and fruity flavour not least to them.

For Glenmorangie The Altus 25 Years Old, the distillate is matured in American white oak casks (ex-bourbon casks) that have been specially toasted and lightly charred following Dr Bill Lumsden's specifications. A small proportion of whisky from ex-Malmsey Madeira casks refines and rounds off the flavour profile. Glenmorangie first introduced whisky from such Madeira casks in 1995. Glenmorangie The Altus is bottled at 43% vol.

If you would like to watch the videos with Harrison Ford, you can find them on the distillery's website at Glenmorangie.com/pages/harrison-ford. At the end of episode 10, the distillery team enjoys Glenmorangie The Altus with the actor in the warehouse.

Producer's tasting notes for the Glenmorangie The Altus 25 year old

AROMA A soft bouquet of carnation and rose entwines with orange blossom, honey, and ripe peach. Hints of vanilla, almond, and nutty toffee emerge.

TASTE Silky and luscious – mandarin, apple, pear, and peach meet a burst of tart gooseberry and yellow plum. Waves of butter-candy sweetness flow into marzipan, icing sugar, and ripe banana.

FINISH Long, smooth, and harmoniously sweet, lingering with an elegant echo of fruit.
