The Master Distiller and Co-CEO turns to new challenges

The Bavarian Slyrs Distillery announces a significant change in its management: Hans Kemenater leaves the company at his own request. The move is being made on the best of terms, and the former Master Distiller and CEO will continue to support the company in an advisory capacity.

Hans Kemenater has played a key role in the establishment and development of the Slyrs Whisky Distillery at Schliersee. He joined the company as an apprentice at the age of 16, continued to work there as a distiller after his training and completed examinations to become a master distiller. In 2007, Hans Kemenater took over the management of the distillery following its new construction, was appointed authorised signatory in 2013 and was appointed to the management board in 2017. He was given overall responsibility for technical development and whisky production in 2021. In July of this year, he and the team celebrated the inauguration of the newly built distillery, which has been brought up to the latest technical standards.

Steffen Brand, who has been managing the company together with Hans Kemenater since February 2025, will take over his areas of responsibility. Long-standing employees will take on additional responsibilities in the technical areas.

The Slyrs Distillery expressly thanks Hans Kemenater in the press release and emphasises that his profound specialist knowledge, his technical expertise and his understanding of the art of whisky production have made the SLYRS distillery a permanent fixture both in Germany and internationally. Many of the quality standards, processes and innovations established today would be inconceivable without him.

Hans Kemenater will take on new challenges. We wish him all the best for the future.
