hello all, one of my friend gifted me a glenfiddich 12 year old whisky, but it was made in 2008. My question is - the age of this whisky is 12 years or 13 + 12 = 25 years as it was bottled in 2008
@appuraja 12
@appuraja It is twelve years old. Whisky only ages whilst in the cask and stops aging when bottled!
@Smithe it's correct. Wine age is counted as aging time!
@appuraja
You can have some fun and say it is 25 year in a form of joke

But yes ... whisky is only aging while having contact with the wood otherwise whisky would be much cheeper to produce. Otherwise destileries would just put 3y whisky into bottles and store it somewhere for additional 21y to get 24y
