I have long been concerned at the explosion of whiskies that have been matured in many different barrels being sold for premium prices particularly in duty free stores. Few of these products have any age indication so I assume they are somewhere between 3 and 7 years. They compete in price with aged whiskies and are now crowding them out of stores. I assume this is because of the bigger profit margin. If I am right isn't it incumbent upon wine and spirit writes to point out what is happening so that people are not deluded into believing they are getting an aged product when they are not?
